New product introduction in a regulated environment is one of the hardest project types there is. • Portfolio visibility across concurrent NPIs. Most manufacturers run several introductions at once with shared engineers. Resource conflicts should be visible before the milestone slips, not after.
• Adoption by the whole team, not just the PM. If the software is harder than the spreadsheet it replaces, the team quietly goes back to the spreadsheet. NPI tools have to be usable by engineers in their first session.

Why the usual options fall short
